Overview

Greenpeace USA is looking for a passionate change-maker to add to our team. The Supporter Mobilization team brings together digital campaigning and field organizing expertise to give people meaningful ways to take action -- no matter where they live in the US. Our mission is to ensure that anyone who wants to be a part of the environmental movement can contribute through their own unique skillsets.

We focus on deep supporter engagement and large, scalable actions. We expect applicants who are motivated and eager to help the Supporter Mobilization team build a people powered model that is scalable and poses a potent threat to the status quo.

We’re looking for somebody who’s creative, loves building relationships with new people, and comes from an organizing or digital organizing background. Our ideal candidate is somebody who is passionate about justice and has a vision for what a decolonized environmental movement looks like and wants to get us there. Spanish speakers, people of color, and LGBTQ folks are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Activate, engage, and build relationships with and between supporters, ultimately creating a sense of community among our activists and volunteers.
  • Develop materials for our online volunteer communities (social media / web content, emails, toolkits, campaign plans, etc…)
  • Create, recruit for, and host trainings for volunteers, using webinar systems like Zoom and GoToMeeting
  • Develop and implement work plans for sub-projects while occasionally leading subprojects -- such as working with a coalition to recruit people to rallies across the country
  • Come up with creative ideas that allow for more supporters to contribute meaningfully to our work
  • Manage supporter data analytics by figuring out the most useful metrics for us to be looking at, and creating systems to help us track this data.
  • Design and implement systems (phone, email, text, social media, etc...) in which to communicate on a regular basis with potential and existing supporters.

Qualifications

We want someone who can see the potential in campaigns and think differently about how to engage supporters on those campaigns using both digital tools and traditional organizing principles. We’re looking for somebody who’s good with strategy and can turn online action into on-the-ground impact, and can move people to action while creating a sense of community.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated history of on the ground field or community organizing with tangible results for a specific campaign, organization and/or cause.
  • Demonstrated history using digital tools to engage supporters in taking action for a cause or organization
  • Demonstrated ability to write successful organizing plans, including list growth, community building and engagement output
  • Demonstrated ability to think creatively in figuring out how to pull local, regional and/or national audiences into campaign opportunities
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills that can inspire and motivate people to action
  • Ability to work independently but collaboratively in a fast-paced, constantly-changing environment
  • Ability to travel for work to participate in on-the-ground activism.

Bonus skills:

  • Experience using CRM tools like EveryAction or VAN
  • Experience running trainings and conferences using web-based presentation tools
  • Proficiency with social media
  • Experience supporting Non-Violent Direct Actions (NVDA), or a strong desire to learn how to support them
