We’re hiring an online content associate to write in the bold voice of Greenpeace as we engage supporters in a people powered model of advocacy.

Do you love writing? When you’re scrolling through your social media feeds, are you taking mental notes about content ideas to try? Do you love the idea of working with collaborative teams to drive real world change everyday?  Then this job may be for you.

The Online Content Associate will reach hundreds of thousands of people on our email list, website and social media channels. One day this might mean drafting a two-week email series for our campaign to stop offshore drilling. The next day you might be live blogging a protest, or writing a rapid-response SMS in 20 minutes.

We're looking for someone with excellent writing skills, the ability to learn about an issue quickly, and a passion for innovation and social change. The position requires a basic overall understanding of digital communications technology (i.e. social media platforms, basic content management systems, CRMs, and SMS) and techniques.

It’s a great opportunity to work with an amazing team of professionals and implement the online strategy of one of the largest and most effective environmental organizations in the world.

  • Develop online content so that we are maximizing our ability to engage our one million+ supporters to mobilize, fundraise, and win campaigns.
  • Produce content appropriate to platform: build and send emails, tweet, post to facebook, blog, etc.
  • Develop, execute and evaluate tests to increase visibility and engagement across platforms.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Successful applicants must possess these qualifications:

  • Comfort with and knowledge of social and racial justice issues.
  • 1– 3 years of experience in writing and fundraising for online channels like email, blogs, and social media.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Functional knowledge of online CRMs, social media platforms, and CMSs like Wordpress.
  • Basic HTML/CSS coding skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality content in a short period of time, and to switch gears easily between issues and channels.
  • Preferred: ability to produce short videos and/or create graphics in Photoshop; knowledge of best practices for video and graphics on social media channels.
