This position is a senior team member of the IT Solutions team, which assists and supports all staff in the operation of information technology hardware and software. This includes support of all Greenpeace staff based in the United States, either in-person or remotely. This team member will be Tier 2 support on the Solutions Team, and will support other Team members or will tackle  more complex issues directly. This position also works with other members of the Information Technology team to enhance and maintain systems that enable better centralized management of all systems and create a more efficient and effective environment where users can thrive.


  1. Provide leadership and assitance on technical processes related to client hardware and software for all staff.
    1. Provide solutions for provisioning and maintaining efficient and effective Windows and Mac clients , including image creating and maitenance, scripting and cetralized systems managment.
    2. Provide technical leadership in the Mobile Device Management area, specifically with iPad managment and other iOS and android devices.
    3. Provide support to other Solutions Team members when needed.
    4. Provide technical training to other team members on internal technologies.
    5. Provide end-user support and individual and small-group training where necessary.
    6. Create, update and organize documentation for areas where holding primary resonsibilities.
  2. Assist in the coordination of the technology-related operations of Greenpeace USA.
    1. Assist in the implementation of the strategic plan for the use of technology.
    2. Assist IT Infrastructure Manager with analyses of hardware and software procurement and systems managment.
    3. Assist in the implementation of office-wide (sometimes organization-wide) training programs for all end-user software.
    4. Assist in creating and updating documentation internal to the IT team and for end-users.
  3. Assist IT Infrastructure Manager is his/her role as liaison between the IT Department and the rest of the organization.
    1. Interact with and participate in problem solving and troubleshooting with all departments.
    2. Gain an understanding of how IT services are used in all parts of the organization.
    3. Occasional night, weekend, and holiday emergency work may be required.
  4. Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the IT Infrastructure Manager.



  • BA/BS or Equivalent in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field.
  • Advanced degrees and certifications desired but not required.



  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced and demanding environment, managing several projects at once.
  • Ability to deal tactfully, professionally, and politely in stressful situations.
  • Ability to work independently and to demonstrate initiative and follow-through.
  • Ability to empathize with users that he/she is supporting.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Mac OSX operating systems.
  • Advanced ability to troubleshoot all types of technology issues and find creative solutions required.
  • Knowledge of common networking concepts required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows  and Mac OS deployment and client systems management.
  • Advanced Windows and OSX scripting knowledge.
  • Advanced proficiency with all hardware aspects of supporting and maintaining systems required.
  • Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux and ChromeOS desired.




  • At least 8 years work experience in the technology field.
  • At least 5 years in a senior or management role with responsibility for a service area or team.
  • Proven experience of providing excellent service to all levels of staff.
  • Interest in environmental issues and knowledge of/or experience with nonprofit organizations.
