As the Social Media Associate, you would be on the frontlines of our online engagement strategy, using social media platforms to reach and mobilize our supporters to take action. We're looking for people with a feel for managing and maintaining the health of online communities, who can think on their feet, track conversations to react and seize opportunities, and bring a passion for innovation and social change.

     

    The Social Media Associate, in partnership with the Social Media Specialist and Senior Online Campaigns Manager, will produce high­-level social content and supporter­-centric community management across all of Greenpeace USA’s social media channels and its website. This is a results-­oriented position reporting to the Senior Online Campaigns Manager, and can be based in any of Greenpeace’s offices.

    Responsibilities

    The Social Media Associate will:

    • Design and creating engaging written and graphic content for Greenpeace’s social media channels and website. ­
    • Listen and responding to the members of our online social communities on a daily basis, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and more. ­
    • Report on content performance and community health. ­
    • Manage and coordinate postings on social channels from staff across the organization. ­
    • Support special content creation as needed, including covering live events on occasion.
    • Provide ad-hoc digital team support as needed.

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements for the Social Media Associate include:

    • 1­-2 years experience managing online communications, including content for major social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and other platforms for a brand or nonprofit organization ­

    Additional qualifications for the Social Media Associate include, but are not limited to:

    • Excellent communication skills, including copywriting and editing skills; ability to write impactful and engaging campaign messaging that resonates with our membership ­is ideal 
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to learn quickly, maintain focus, and hit goals in a fast-paced, ever changing campaign environment
    • Experience with graphic design and familiarity with programs such as: Photoshop, Canva, Illustrator, etc.; Adobe Premiere / Final Cut Pro or other video editing experience is a plus, but not required.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-­paced, collaborative, and deadline­-driven environment. 
    • Commitment to Greenpeace’s mission and non-violent direct-action as a means of affecting change
