    Greenpeace U.S. (GPUS) is hiring a Senior IT Solutions Specialist to join our Data/Information Technology team. The individual will serve as the first point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance remotely (phone, email, instant messaging) or in person.

     

    This position’s primary responsibility is to perform troubleshooting remotely or in person through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions. The individual will research, learn, implement, document, and train users on new technologies and products.

     

    The ideal candidate will take full ownership of the responsibilities of this role with an interest in expanding their knowledge and job responsibilities. In addition, we are looking for someone that is willing to develop, assist and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with colleagues across the organization and are willing to perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

    This is a non-exempt, full time role based in either San Francisco, CA or Portland, OR and will report to the IT Solutions Team Leader who is in the Washington, DC office.

    Responsibilities

    • Respond to technical queries that arrive via email, phone calls, instant message, or in-person visit.
    • Understand how staff utilizes technology to achieve their goals and take action to support them.
    • Have a basic understanding of all areas of GPUSA IT operations
    • Have an advanced knowledge of the specific areas of GPUSA IT operations that you are assigned.
    • Create documentation for both the internal IT team and end-users.
    • Assist the team with analyses and procurement of hardware and software.
    • Assist in the inventory and deployment of computers and software to all staff.
    • Interact with other team members to solve broader organization-wide technology issues.
    • Perform any other job related duties as assigned by the IT Infrastructure Manager.

    Qualifications

    Minimum requirements include:

    • BA/BS or (equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Business Information Systems or related field.
    • At least 5 years work experience in a technical support team, supporting Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and/or ChromeOS computers.

     

    Additional qualifications for this role include, but are not limited to:

    • Excellent and demonstrated ability to work independently and to exhibit initiative and follow-through.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment and manage several projects at once.
    • Ability to deal tactfully, professionally, and politely in stressful situations with end-users and teammates.
    • Interest in environmental issues and knowledge of/or experience with non-profit organizations
    • Fundamental knowledge of supporting, troubleshooting, and managing Windows and MacOS in an enterprise environment
    • Familiarity with Mobile Device Management (MDM) concepts and delivery options
    • Comfortable supporting iOS in an MDM environment
    • Understanding of basic local networking concepts
    • Understanding of concepts related to building and applying Windows and MacOS client images
    • Comfortable supporting clients in a centralized client management environment
    • Best practices and usage of ticketing systems for supporting users
